Selection of printing mesh

Considering the structure / strength of the screen for the first time, there are two kinds of meshes commonly used in modern printing mesh: multi-fiber mesh and single-fiber mesh. The materials and equipment for printing mesh are also more sophisticated. Mid-range silk is the key to the electronics industry.

Single-fiber webs come in many different mesh sizes. Generally, the thicker the diameter, the stronger the screen. In some applications, a combination of large grids and high grid counts requires a twill weave to achieve satisfactory results. Twill is sometimes the best choice because it is strong. These screens are not suitable for four-color printing because there is more substrate contact and mesh interference, but because of their durability, they are suitable for heavy industry applications and textiles.

The multi-fiber web structure is mainly used for coarse webs, which has the lowest dimensional stability and the worst ability to print fine layers. This printing mesh can be used to make durable, strong filters. The multi-fiber structure screen has good adhesion to emulsions and capillary photographic films. It has been successfully used in direct / indirect films before more stable materials have emerged. However, the screen of this structure is difficult to clean and recycle.

The finest polyester mesh is used for the highest mesh sizes. The thinner the screen, the smaller the mesh and the finer the mesh. There is a lot of research and development dedicated to making ultrafine meshes more powerful and stable. The thinner the screen, the thinner the ink layer. In order to obtain a thinner ink layer, one side of the polyester mesh sheet may be heat-rolled. This process makes the screen thinner and smoother, reduces the consumption of transparent coatings, and reduces costs.

Nylon mesh is suitable for printing complex surface or container screens. Nylon is more expandable than polyester and can adapt to rough, uneven or rounded surfaces. However, its properties make it unsuitable for most applications requiring dimensional stability and low elongation.

Stainless steel wire mesh has the highest strength, can meet the requirements of wire diameter, and is suitable for fine printing. Fine printing requires precise ink coverage and good dimensional stability for better registration.
