The difference between cylinder printing and flat printing

1. Processing before printing

Non-textile screen printing. Patterns are usually done by photography or scanning. There are four main colors for color separation, and the printed patterns are mostly independent. No printing is required, and the photosensitive material is mostly resistant to solvents.

Textile screen printing mesh. Pattern design, black and white color separation, generally adopts continuous shooting process photosensitive plate making, in addition to independent flower shape, mainly by manual operation, high technical requirements for workers, low work efficiency. The plate-making photosensitive material needs to be waterproof.

2. Wire mesh material

It is the main material for screen printing. Silk screens woven from silk have long been replaced by nylon mesh. Although nylon mesh has high strength, wear resistance and elasticity, it is susceptible to changes in temperature and humidity and has greater flexibility. It affects the accuracy of the printing plate, so polyester mesh is commonly used when printing high-end products. Stainless steel wire mesh is also used for circuit board printing. Depending on the application, there are many screen sizes ranging from 36 inches to 90 inches, ranging from 80-500 mesh per inch.

4. Differences in printed materials

Textile printing is generally based on dyes, especially silk fabrics, which use corresponding dyes depending on the fiber properties. The process flow and supporting equipment are more complicated, and the printing paste for printing is printed, called “aqueous ink”. Due to the actual needs, the color of the textile screen printing must have a certain degree of fastness (not easy to fade), and the color changes greatly, so the slurry and color materials are generally sold and stored separately, and can be used as a printing if necessary. pulp. There are also some special features of paint printing pastes, which are often not limited by the properties of fabric fibers, so screen printing coatings have a certain status.

Non-woven screen printing ink. These inks are almost all solvent-based. Its biggest feature is "characteristics", which is printed with what ink. Second, the color of the ink is also the best-selling, such as four-color ink. There are also some special functional inks, such as foaming inks, bright inks, fluorescent inks, etc. In recent years, the variety of screen printing inks has been increasing and will not be reviewed.

5. Postpress processing

In the process of textile screen printing, post-press processing is very important. It must be fixed by high-temperature steaming or baking to combine dyes with textile fibers to ensure color fastness. After fixing, the water is washed to remove the carrier and the unfixed dye in the printing paste to make the color brighter. Even if a coating process is used, it should be baked at high temperatures, but it can be washed without water. Post-treatment of non-textile screen printing is generally relatively simple, but it is also necessary to perform necessary treatment according to the quality requirements of the printed product, such as photo-curing of UV ink.

6. Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages and disadvantages of rotating net

Advantages: easy to operate, flowering, adding pulp, low labor intensity, high output, limited color. Disadvantages: It is not easy to print moire, fine lines and fine lines;

Advantages and disadvantages of flat nets

Advantages: large printing flexibility, low equipment investment, suitable for small batch, multi-variety production, unlimited number of sets. Disadvantages: The labor intensity is large, and the color is strong after printing.
