What is the difference between polyester monofilament mesh and multifilament mesh

Today, we explore these two types of screen printing mesh and their unique characteristics.
MAISHI polyester monofilament mesh is made from single threads woven into smooth and regular fabrics. These threads are extruded from heated polyester and spun to a precise diameter. This type of mesh offers high dimensional stability and is ideal for achieving perfect registration, especially when fine detail is important. It possesses excellent tensile strength, elastic memory, and resistance to chemicals, heat, moisture, and abrasion. Most screen printers prefer using monofilament polyester due to its reliability. However, the traditional monofilament type is being replaced by "Low-Elongation" fabric, which brings new benefits to the screen printing process.

On the other hand, multifilament polyester is made from fine polyester strands twisted together to form threads and woven into fabrics. This type of mesh is commonly used in the textile industry. The threads of multifilament mesh are coarse and impart a unique visual character to the printed images. While they may not wear as well in extended production runs as monofilaments, they are suitable for printing on textured or contoured surfaces. Multifilament mesh also allows for easier adhesion of indirect cut and photo stencils.

Advantages and Disadvantages:

·Polyester monofilament mesh offers high tension and low elongation, resulting in improved fabric strength, faster tension stabilization, higher tension threshold and breaking point, and faster turnaround time. It also provides improved registration and allows for faster print speeds.

·Multifilament mesh, although softer, has lower softness and less appealing touch and appearance. It lacks the high tension and low elongation characteristics of monofilament mesh.

At Hebei Maishi Wire Mesh Manufacture Group, we specialize in producing a wide range of high-quality polyester monofilament mesh. Our products offer significant advantages over traditional monofilament polyester, ensuring faster tensioning without damaging the threads, improved fabric strength, and stable tension for improved registration. While the price of multifilament mesh may be slightly higher, mono filament polyester remains suitable for non-critical printing applications.
